Facility Renewal Plan

Purdue University Northwest is developing a targeted facilities renewal plan to align the university’s physical facility assets with its strategic initiatives, changing academic space needs, and student resource expectations. The process began in 2019 with the consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross (ASG), an architecture and urban planning firm specializing in higher education. The planning process included input from students, faculty, and staff to develop a plan that will meet current and future space needs and challenges, budget considerations, and enrichment of the student experience. .

The plan is being developed and is expected to be submitted for consideration by Purdue University’s board of trustees this fall. The plan will feature updates to the Hammond and Westville campuses to support enrollment projections, student success, and PNW’s commitment to the Northwest Indiana region as the metropolitan university of foreground.

Summer projects

Gyte Classroom Renovations

TECH 157

A new collaborative space for counselling, tutoring, further education and career guidance. This space provides students with a hub to interact with staff and each other as they determine their study plans, conquer their classroom work, and prepare for their future in the workforce. The space is filled with shareable and interactive workspaces, computer stations, a lounge area, and even a cafe and snack bar. This innovative new space is sure to become a favorite hangout for students on the Westville campus.

Yjean Chambers Room

Will be available in the spring to plan as a general academic classroom. During its summer renovation, carpeting and seating were replaced and the stage was removed to make it a more flexible learning space.
